Shutter Island is an American thriller film which was released on February 19, 2010. The film is directed by Martin Scorsese. Leonardo di Caprio played the lead role of “U.S. Marshall Edward Teddy Daniels” in the film and Ben Kingsely played the Head Psychiatrist. Shutter Island was produced by “Paramount Pictures”. The film is based on the novel name “Shutter Island” by “Dennis Lehane”.
In 1954, U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo di Caprio) is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland more dangerous criminals escape in the confusion and the puzzling improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything his memory and his partner.
The original soundtrack of the film was released on February 2, 2010 by Rhino Records. For the film no original score was written and the music is produced by long time friend of Scorsese, “Robbie Robertson”.
The film opened no.1 at the Box Office with $41million. The film has grossed the total of $294,803,014 and the film became the Scorsese highest-grossing film worldwide.
Shutter Island is a must watch movie.
